Why Branding is Important

Many new businesses know they need a logo, but it’s easy to forget that a full brand beyond a logo is also necessary. Let’s look at why having a brand is so important!

The Logo

A logo is how customers recognize a business when they see things like labels, a store front or an advertisement on Google. A lot of assumptions are made when a logo is first seen! As humans, we like to categorize things in our mind because it helps us make sense of what we are seeing. A properly designed logo ensures people correctly categorize your business so you catch the attention of the customers who are most interested in your product/service.

A logo contains the vision and the overall “personality” of your brand. If you’ve ever wondered why logos cost so much, is because it takes hours and hours to create something that’s not only unique but will also attract your customers and inspire them to take action (e.g. buy your product, contact you, sign up for your event, etc.).

The Brand

Creating a logo is a complex process; creating a brand is even more so. A brand is everything that touches your consumers; it’s your copy, colors, fonts, social media presence and even your customer service. A full brand is imperative if you want to stand out and attract new, loyal customers.

When someone spends all their time, money and resources to create a product, hire employees, buy a storefront, work with lawyers, fill out piles and piles of paperwork…and then throw together branding as an after thought? It’s like completing a doctoral thesis and then forgetting to put your name on it. Proper branding is a crucial role in a successful business because without it, your future customers who are dying to have the product you offer, won’t even know you exist.

I will leave you with my final thoughts on branding:
