How to Accomplish Your Goals in 3 Steps
I love this quote because it reminds me that good things take time. If I want to accomplish big, lofty goals, I need to prepare for the long haul. However, knowing I may not see success for 10 years can be daunting and sometimes I hide behind a little thing called “productive procrastination.”
Productive procrastination is being “busy” without actually accomplishing anything. This can disguise itself as checking emails numerous times throughout the day, surfing social media, or simply doing tasks that aren’t important. So how do I know if I’m filling my time with things that will actually accomplish my goal? I follow a rule of 3 that ensures I stay on track.
Each week, I write down 3 goals that I want accomplished by the next Sunday. Once my weekly goals have been written down, I break them down into 3 daily goals. Each day, those 3 goals are my top priority and I try to do them before I do anything else. Having those 3 goals per day helps me stay focused and accomplish things that I otherwise would probably procrastinate from doing. Because, I’ll be honest, checking my emails is a lot easier than putting in the hard work that’s necessary to accomplish big goals. What I love most about this method is having peace of mind knowing that I spent my time wisely. Just as Rome was not built in a day, any goal worth doing is never accomplished quickly. The key is consistent, daily steps that keep me on track.
What about you? Have you found a system that helps you to be productive and stay motivated? I would love to hear about it in the comments!
With love,
-Heather
