3 Reasons Why Pinterest is Awesome for Businesses

Written by Katie Hart

Have you thought of using Pinterest for your business? While it's usually lumped in with social media, Pinterest actually functions more like Google! For many blogs and websites, Pinterest can become your number one source of traffic, leading to more sales and clients. Here are three reasons why Pinterest is an awesome choice to help grow your business.

1. Pinterest is future-oriented

Facebook is primarily about the past.

Twitter and Instagram focus on the present.

Pinterest is all about the future!

People pin about their hopes and dreams, and do research on how to turn those dreams into reality. So if the content you share will help someone with that better future version of themselves (whether it's an amazing dish to bring to the in-laws, better mental clarity, or a brand new career), they will save it to their boards.

What better version of themselves do your customers/clients want to become?

2. Pinterest helps you stand out from the crowd

The internet is a busy place! Even if you have an established business, you can feel lost amid a sea of similar businesses. Try doing a Google search for your profession or niche. The results are little boring, no? A wall of text, saying the same thing in slightly different ways.

Now do the same search in Pinterest! Look at all the variety! Which pins catch your eye? Imagine your company's pins in the same space.

What do you do differently than some of these other businesses?

How can you use that to stand out?

As a Pinterest manager, I am always looking at other pins in the same niches as my clients. My design brain looks for the universal elements (for example, for food bloggers, the pin NEEDS clear photos of the food) as well as all the differences and how effective they are. Then I apply those findings to help my clients' pins stand out in a good way, all while keeping a branded look so their pins stand out - together!

3. Pinterest helps you convey emotion about your business

Images convey emotion much more quickly than words. What do you want potential clients to feel about your business? Your pin images should reflect this. And you're not limited to one emotion or a group of similar emotions! For example, someone may hire a coach to help them reach new heights in their business. Others may hire that same coach to help them serve their customers out of the most centered, authentic version of themselves. The first type of person may be more drawn to bright colors and direct, even confrontational text. The second type might be drawn to muted colors, photos of nature, and holistic words.

One awesome thing about Pinterest is that you can connect BOTH types of people to the same blog post about coaching - just by using two different pin images! As long as your images accurately portray the type of content they are leading to, they can vary widely to reach any demographic.

Those are just 3 of the reasons why Pinterest is awesome for business - there are many more! Pinterest is one of the best tools you can use to make your businesses thrive.
